Sunday 17th August
We had noticed that the battery had lost some charge overnight and so we were anxious to get going again so it didn't get too low. We left rather quickly at about 8.30am!
We enjoyed the drive out through the rest of the Cascades along the river and eventually came out onto the I5 running up the west coast of Washington.
We stopped for information in a visitors centre and then drove out to Anacortes which is on an island just off the main land.
We headed for a city park called Washington Park on the end of the peninsula and found a spot in the campsite there. It was a very heavily wooded site and as the weather was getting worse and it was trying to rain it seemed really dark. It was also really cold! What a change! So we all got our long trousers and jumpers out for the first time in ages.
We went for a bike ride around the peninsula which was really pretty. It was also really hilly and it turned out to be a real work out for us. By the time we got back we were feeling much warmer.
We spent the evening watching the Olympics on TV.
Wow we have now completed our circuit of the American Continent
