Tuesday 29th July
We really had to leave today and head to Helena. I was really dreading going to the Dentist...I suppose it was all a bit unknown. I wasn't going to know the dentist, I was worried he was going to pull out my tooth, and of course we were concerned about the cost of it and would the insurance cover the cost blab bla.
It was a very pretty drive to Helena, across the Canyon Ferry Dam and on to the city through East Helena.
As we saw Helena before us in the valley I only had negative feelings about the place and I really didn't want to be there at all!
We parked in a mall with a JC Penny and went in to find someone who could either give us a phone number, recommend a good dentist, tell us where to go etc.
As usual we spoke to an incredibly helpful sales assistant who found a dentist in the yellow pages that she knew of. The surgery was only about a mile away so we drove there straight away.
We were immediately welcomed into the surgery by the receptionist Leanne, and the dentist Jason, was also standing there when we walked in. I said "we're not from around here but we need a dentist!" they all laughed and said "well we would never have guessed that!" I suppose we must have sounded pretty foreign to them!
Jason the dentist was able to see me within 10 minutes although he seemed very busy!  After an x-ray and a look, it was obvious that half my tooth had disappeared (it was in a ziplock bag in my purse!).  He told me that the treatment needed was a porcelain crown which he could do immediately for $980. He had state-of the art equipment available and it would be incredibly strong and would be a permanent repair. With this, we would be able to continue our holiday with no further problems. We tried to get him to tell us if we could have a more temporary repair that would cost less, but because of the amount of tooth that had broken off he was concerned that it may not last the trip and then we would still be paying money to have it fixed at a later date.
As I am a terrible patient and get very stressed in the dentist chair and we didn't want this to drag on any longer than necessary with further unknown costs, we decided that we would have the crown done and get our insurance to pay for it.
Communicating with the insurance company proved a bit tricky. It took a couple of phone calls from us and the dentist, plus a faxed formal letter of the problem and recommended treatment, plus a digital photo of the tooth!
There was nothing more that we could do today except wait for the insurance company to get back to us with a yes or no.
So we left and went shopping in Macy's and Target before stumbling on an amazing book shop called Hastings - what a co-incidence! It had a video library, entertainment section with demo PSP's and a café with free hi speed Wi Fi connection!  It was amazing. - We spent 5 hours there!
We had received some more inquiries about the RV and had to respond to those.
At about 7.30 we drove out to a place called Devil's Elbow where we had heard there was another campsite on the lake for only $10. We had the pick of all the sites as it was pretty much empty and we settled down for the night.
