We continued on through Iowa today, intent on finding a camp site early as it is now the weekend. We found Clear Lake State Park around lunch time and easily found a vacancy. It is getting very hard to find a spot on the weekend as people book the sites ahead of time and generally they are all booked out for the rest of the summer holidays. However Iowa State Parks only allow half of their sites to be reservable, which means that the rest are on a first come first served basis. This is good for us but only if we make a place well before tea time.
We had a swim in the not so clear lake but it was still a much-needed cool down.
Zach continued his quest to meet every 8 year old boy in North America. He now has strict rules about not disappearing for too long and reporting back every so often.
We had tea and all settled down for the evening. Just as we were going to bed we noticed what we thought was fireworks up in the sky. We realised it was lightening which started flashing like a major light show, only cloud to cloud and CONSTANT. What makes it so weird is that there is no thunder to accompany it! We have been in a weird storm like this once before and if you have been avidly reading every word of the blog you will know when it was. Post us your answers and let us know when and where you think that was and we will bring back a prize for you. Steve will think of something special to bring back I'm sure!!
