Monday 9th June
This was a sad day as we had to leave this great camping spot and all my family! My parents were heading back to Kentucky to see their friends Harry and Kitty so we said goodbye to them at around midday. We then had a lovely left-over lunch with Sally and my Great Aunty Joan in the van! That was really nice! We then packed up and left at about 2pm. Thanks Sally and Terry, we had a fabulous time with you and we wont forget it! Shame it was a bit too hot but fortunately we had your "pool" to cool our feet!
The next stop for us was a place called Fort Frederick Maryland. This was a State Park with an old fort that we thought might be interesting. However, it was so ridiculously hot .. around 100 degrees that we just didn't have the energy
The camp ground did not have any power so we started the generator so we could use the air con. That died within about 5 mins as we only had a quarter of a tank of fuel. The gen. is designed to switch off at that point so you don't use up all your fuel by accident. Obviously this is a good idea, but for us its spelled a horrible hot night. It was so hot in fact that Steve ended up lying on the floor by the door. In the end I had to do the same and Steve went back to bed and put on our little 12 volt fan to try and sleep. The kids were fine as we had put them to sleep with the fan on them.
Eventually it cooled down and we finally slept.
