We find that when we do stay at Walmart's we tend to leave early and today was no exception. We drove onwards into West Virginia, which is a particularly lovely State that looks after its visitors. All the rest areas have Dump stations and the visitor info and maps they gave us were excellent.
We took a detour off the interstate near Weston and visited a particularly lovely and "free" State park called Stonewall Jackson Lake SP. There we had lunch under a tree right beside an old cemetery and Caroline had a nap. About 1 ½ hours later we continued on to Morgantown where we were meeting up with Mike & Julie, Terry and Sally (Julie's cousin) and Joan (Julie's Aunt).
We had a slight detour that nearly ended in disaster enroute - Rory (the GSP) decided to take us on a shortcut up a very steep and very narrow road that eventually we couldn't navigate and we had to back out of - a very sweaty mission in the 100 F heat
We finally arrived at Terry and Sally's at 4 pm ish to discover that they lived in a beautiful spot almost on top of a hill with a fantastic view. The driveway up to the house was quite steep and we parked in a hayfield above the house - perfect. We were able to plug into the mains and run the Aircon at night which was a relief because even at night the temperature didn't drop much. Unfortunately the fuse blew the first night and we had a hot night but we solved the problem the next day by running the fridge on Propane while the Aircon was on.
We had a nice time catching up. Terry and Sally own a big farm around the house, basically most of the hill, and they built the house themselves. Terry has a fantastic collection of old and newer Harley Davidson Motorcyles, which he showed Steve and Zach.
We had wild turkey, shot on the farm, and home-grown salads and vegetables for dinner and a few beers - a great end to a hot day.
We have decided to stay with Terry and Sally until Monday because they have arranged a family/friends get together for Sunday night.
