We have decided to call the RV "Indy" because its model's name is actually called Independence and because it reflects what we are trying to be. So from now on in the journal we will refer to the RV as "Indy".
This morning we awoke early and drove down to the lake - it was a lovely hot morning. We all had a swim and then a hot shower in Indy. We talked to a local guy who told us that the lake was very very low and that people were worried about it. They have stopped using the water for Hydro power and are now using it only for town water supplies - Los Angeles, Las Vegas etc.
We continued on to cross the Hoover Dam
We had decided to get some miles under our belt so we travelled further SE out of Nevada and into Arizona there we visited a town called Kingman where we visited a very helpful information centre and saw a huge retired steam train that had done 2 million miles in its life. Kingman is on historic route 66 - so we took some photos and learnt more about the route.
We drove on and eventually stayed right beside Lake Cataract on National Forest Land. We were the only people in the campsite. It was very late and almost dark by the time we parked and we watched the moon rise over the lake. I cooked the steak on the BBQ in the dark. Amazingly it was quite cold at the campsite and we hade to put jeans on - what a contrast from the morning. (we had gained some altitude)
