Zach is really not well today with Steve's cold so we are not going too mad. We stopped in Aberdeen at the YMCA, still heading west to the coast, to have a swim , and more importantly a shower afterwards!  We couldn't use the pool at that time but they said we could have a free shower as long as we became temp. members so we did! We had a lovely long shower and then carried on our way.

We arrived at Longbeach at around 4pm. It is beautiful here with white sandy beaches and rolling surf. The weather has warmed up a bit - maybe around 15 or 16 degrees which is a relief.

We camped in a lovely State park camp ground at Cape Disappointment  which is at the north end of the mouth of the Columbia river.  It has great history surrounding it as you can imagine with a name like that!  Lewis and Clark were the first pioneers who finally stumbled across the west coast of US after trudging through Oregon for months and hence founded the Oregon trail for the thousands of migrants that followed.

We camped amongst the pine trees just back from the beach and even lit a camp fire ( in the designated fire pit provided ).
