Today we woke up to blue sky and beautiful white snow! There had been a heavy fall of snow over night and it had become increasingly colder as the day went on so we were not really surprised. We seemed to have survived our first night in our new home without any problems and we were quite cosy inside. Everyone has told us how unusual it is to snow here in April so it was perhaps an unlucky coincidence that it happened on our first night ever in the van!!
We got up pretty fast as you can imagine and got the little electric heater going as we were still connected to the mains outside the house of the old owners.
Steve had to dash down to a public phone to get me on the car insurance for a day so that I could return the rental car while Steve drove the van down to pick me up
I had a good drive and Zach enjoyed watching the snow sliding off everyone's cars and smashing onto the road. I couldn't see out of the back window as the snow from the roof had slipped down onto the window and it wasn't until I went round a corner rather sharply that it flew off the back and I could see again.
Steve and Holly arrived within minutes of us and Steve parked in a big car park right opposite. It also happened to be right next to another Canadian Tire shop which was extremely convenient for us as Steve needed to fix a few bits and bobs. We still hadn't got the fridge going, we had blown the fuses for the interior lights, the bike needed some attention, we needed LPG, and the list went on!
At about 2.30 we finished up and decided to move on. We sat there and said"right where shall we go next?" what a feeling!
We ended up at the Burnaby Cariboo RV park as we decided that we needed a place that would give us a chance to get ourselves sorted and the kids could have a run around and a swim etc. it was a very nice place with excellent facilities and although quite pricey we felt it was worth while.
It is still very cold outside so we are pretty well wrapped up. Only another week or two and we will be in much warmer weather!
