Today was very chill. I got up at 11 am again, had some bread with raspberry jam and brown cheese for breakfast, read a little bit, and watched some tv. I went upstairs to ask a question and ended up sitting down next to Karoline who was on the computer listening to music. She played a bunch of songs for me that she likes (mostly pop in English, but some in Norwegian). We put a few songs on my pen drive so I've got some new material to keep me happy. My favorite so far is by Christine Gulbrandsen called Alvedansen or "The Elf Dance" which was the Norwegian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2006.
Jo-pe, Karoline and I decided to go see a movie this evening so we headed to Tonsberg. I took a few shots from the car, so they're not very good, but at least there's some idea of what the area around us is like. We went and saw a Norwegian computer animation movie (which is a big deal considering how much it costs to make one of those!)
Ah, ok culture shock moment...not too shocking, really, since I'd been told about it before, but still noteworthy. Oh, and this paragraph is rated X for nudity, so if it bothers you, or you are not old enough to see an R-rated movie, skip ahead
Dinner was quite tasty...we had pasta in a sort of cheese sauce, and "Sabbath bread" of which I am definitely a fan. Ah, and the district that we technically live in is quite a bit smaller than Andebu, which really just proves that we're in the country....here's what I found on wikipedia about Stokke . Well, that's about it for now.

. Of course there weren't any English subtitles so I was pretty clueless most of the time. I got most of the plot, but it was kind of a strange plot to start with. It's about a really sketchy guy who is an elefant trainer for the circus and wants to start his own circus. I know I'm still missing info, but somehow there is a bunch of Russian cocaine hidden in the elefant's right butt-cheek, and the guy plans to use it to start his circus. He keeps the elefant loyal to him by giving him dope and speed, so as you can imagine, the poor animal, Jimmy, is in pretty bad shape. I don't want to give away too much...haha, not that I could...or that you'll ever see it, but the movie also involves three other similarly sketchy characters who the first guy hires to help him, random circus folk, a group of about 5 militant animal activists who live together in a commune, four hunters in search of big game which they were previously deprived of by a Pakistani hunter, 3 bad-ass biker Samis (indigenous people of Norway), and 2 innocent American campers, and a benevolent moose. Oh, I just found a web page on it...I wonder how close I got to the description....well, anyway, it's called Sipp Jimmy Fri or "Free Jimmy" and it looks like there's an English version.Ah, ok culture shock moment...not too shocking, really, since I'd been told about it before, but still noteworthy. fields
. We were watching the news and there was a report about a lake where people swim being closed, and it happens to be a lake where gay people swim so it's semi-controversial. The report started by showing two naked guys sitting together on a rock at the edge of the water with their backs and rear ends towards the camera. Joe had asked about the censorship of music on the radio earlier, so I pointed out that naked bottoms would not be shown on American TV. A few seconds later they showed one of the guys getting ready to get in the water with a full shot of his penis. At which point Joe asked "would they show THAT?" Haha, no, Joe, I can't imagine they would. Dinner was quite tasty...we had pasta in a sort of cheese sauce, and "Sabbath bread" of which I am definitely a fan.
