Got out of the hotel by 10am determined to see the sights at a cheaper rate than the 1000 Baht per person city and temple tour. We thought that this would be good as Silla and I have done the tours previously seen most of the sights and Eli is take it or leave it - so what could go wrong...
Our first challenge was finding a Tuk Tuk driver who would take us straight where we wanted to go and not on a roundabout shop-shop, look-look stop or three so that he gets a petrol voucher. After some fairly assertive bargaining (always with a smil) we managed to score a ride for 100Baht to Wat Traimat, the golden Budda.
After the obligatory photos, we managed to avoid further hassles until we tried to walk to the river taxi. After 10-15 mins of walking in the heat it started to wear on Eli and patience were wearing thin at the map accuracy so we decided to get a Tuk Tuk to Wat Pho, the reclining Budda
Got there for 150Baht which was a good deal given how long we were in the Tuk Tuk, especially as we did not stop for a shop-shop, look-look. Had a good walk around Wat Pho with Eli putting coins in the Budda pots - every one which took a while!
By this stage, given that we had not had breakfast or lunch and it was past 1pm, we thought flag it and go back to the hotel, grab some lunch and go for a swim - Kids love their swimming pools!
An air conditioned Taxi cost 360Baht but was better than another hot polluted Tuk Tuk ride given our frame of mind at the time.
Had lunch at the Platinum Mall food court, same as yesterday and again, it was very nice and cheap to boot!
Back to the hotel for a swim and a rest then back out at 7pm for dinner and a browse of a nearby electronics mall. Unfortunately for us the malls were shutting at 8pm so we were out of luck for dinner and bargains. Had to settle for Burger King for dinner but at least Eli was happy with some familiar food.
Back at hotel and feeling tired by 9pm. We sorted out final decisions such as wether or not we should buy a new suitcase or try and fit everything into two and what time to organise the Taxi for to catch the flight to Cambodia.
