The huge beasts are turning and splashing – the river, before so calm and peaceful has
turned into a boiling pit, the water turning red as the fight for survival
continues. Now, one of the monsters starts a violent thrashing moments, finally
his huge head lifts about a meter out of the water and the entire head of the
gnu he has been twisting off disappears into the dark, dank, deadly gorge of
his open throat. Enraged by the loss of this delicacy the other fifteen beasts
splash, twist and fight a new for the remains of the prey Another tough day in Africa...
Another tough day in Africa...
.

This is the Great Migration over the Mara river. An annual trek by two million of
wildebeest, zebra and other gazelles from the Seregenti plains (Tanzania) to the Maasai Mara (Kenya) - and we
are right in the middle of it. Thousands of wildebeest swim, jump and struggle
over the river to find the greener pastures on the other sides. Crocodiles and
lions likewise have an annual feast of plenty, they wait and when the moment is
right (which it often, very often, is this time of year) – attack! The grass is
for many of the antelope not 'greener on the other side' as many fall victim to
the feeding frenzies of the carnivorous beasts.

We spend five wonderful days in this beautiful park. All the images that you dream about
and associate with African game viewing came to life here. Another incredible
blessing – God must have had a lot of fun during creation, the constant beauty
around us is a permanent testament to this.
