Hiya all

I have spent three days down in asuncian and have found that she can be expensive or as cheap as a whore. Downtown caters for the tourist trade where prices are dictated by the buyers demeanure. This afternoon I travelled up to the bus terminal to buy my next bus ticket and on the way back , out of the blue, I said to the driver let me off here. it looked like a lively communal market. So out I get and wow the prices just fell by around 80%. I did a spot of shopping before hopping back into a waiting taxi and back to the hotel.

Travel Tip N0.,15, if you really want to live dangerously, buy food from a communal market. The food looks good but boy when you put it in you mouth it tastes like a greasy turd. NO THANK YOU. I just hope that I havent caught another stomach bug which are esier to pick up than a side street whoare.

Anyways the market was both interesting and confronting. I was nearly going to buy some cologne from this street seller, but the guy suddendly switched currencies just as we had agreed on a number. I mean he went from Paraguayan gauranis to American dollars faster than a downtown taxi at a yellow light.

So I say Gracies, No Gracies buit this guy just wouldnt give up. He followed me for around 4 blocks each ten metres or so having a better offer for me.

Travel Tip No.15 never accept the openeing price on goods in Paraguay. If you turn down  couple of offers you will then be in the zone to buy a bargain albeit it takes you an extra 30 minutes in negotiations, but the local vendors seem to relish in the barter system.

I spent around two hours in this market and enjoyed every moment. It was like shanty town meets chickenfeed (A cut price store in Tasmania for those reading from outside of Tasmania.)

I`m off to Rosario next, the birth place of Che Guavera. I will take my time winding down through Eastern Argentina and hopefully arrive in Buenos Aires in time to connect with my flight home.

Till next time

Love

Russell
