We totally agree with Mark Twain 'the coldest winter I ever had was a summer in San Francisco'. It was so cold and the Golden Gate Bridge was fogged in until on the day we drove out I glanced back and had a quick peek at a clear bridge.
The tour we did of San Francisco was interesting and enjoyable and certainly a great way to get an introduction to the city. Our guide was so interesting and he talked constantly for the 2 1/2 hrs we were on the road. We had a giggle because he was obviously old school as he counted us after each time we got back in the bus he would walk up the isle moving his fingers as if he was still using a counter
I was not overly excited about going to see Alcatraz but I have to say it was totally worth going, even in the cold. To see all of it you would have to spend the whole day there.
Sunday morning we visited the famous Glyde Church for a service. We enjoyed the service, they do amazing work in their community. Afterwards we spent the afternoon at the Golden Gate Park where we visited the de Young Museum and the Japanese Tea Gardens.
We visited Yosemite it was so spectacular I gave it its own blog.
At the end of our time in San Francisco we picked up a car and began our drive south.
