What an eventful day!!!

First up was a trolley ride down to Fisherman's Wharf to spend the day wandering and taking in the sights down by the ocean. The trolley ride is one we will never forget though, as we passed what looked to be a nudist colony right in the middle of the city - LOL! Naked men on rollerblades, naked men on scooters - heck, even naked men on bicycles! That was definitely NOT on our list of "must-see" sights, but whether we liked it or not, it was added to the list for us! I still have no idea what the deal was with this, but we just chalked it up to: Anything goes in San Francisco! I just hope that's not the "real" San Francisco treat ;)

Fisherman's Wharf was incredibly windy, being so close to the ocean, but we managed to have a pretty fantastic time checking out the many MANY stores and vendors. Our first stop was lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, which was utterly scrumptious - we devoured 2 of the hugest burgers we'd ever seen and left with very satisfied stomachs. We spent the afternoon just wandering around the Wharf...stopped to see the sea lions, went to a museum and a few art galleries (Dali! Picasso! Warhol! Oh my!!), and of course headed to Ghirardelli Square for some yummy chocolate. Before we knew it, it was time to head to the departing pier for the Alcatraz tour.

Now, I really need to let the pictures tell the story of our night on Alcatraz...Kory snapped some amazing photos on the ferry ride out, and I took over for the photos of Alcatraz, but I really can't sum up the experience better than the photos can. Let's just say, as soon as we stepped foot on the island, with the sun quickly setting and dusk rolling in, we knew we were in for a creepy night at one of the greatest fright venues in the world! Alcatraz was, by far, my most favorite part of our stay in San Fran (a close second for Kory, behind the ball games of course). It was the experience of a lifetime, to say the least...

This is totally awesome--I have so enjoyed reading the blog and looking at all the pics--what a wonderful keepsake. Need to make this into a book.
