The alarm went off at 7:00 a.m. and we were on the road heading for the border by 9. The drive south was amazing, so scenic and beautiful. No difficulties whatsoever crossing the border (we lucked into going through the gate with the nice old man who was still half-asleep) and before we knew it, Idaho was blowing us away with amazing panoramic views of tall mountains and deep valleys, with gorgeous homes and ranches scattered along mountains bases and way up in the hills. Way to go, Idaho! The drive through Washington and Oregon wasn't quite as scenic, compared to what we had just driven through, but once we got closer to Portland (on the highway along the Columbia River), we saw more gorgeous homes isolated on high rollings hills, steep rock faces with the occasional waterfall, and lush green everywhere. What a long day though...we're all checked into the Best Western in Newburg (just outside Portland), completely wiped out and ready for bed.

Goodnight to all!

Tomorrow's agenda: finding the Pacific Ocean :)
