We arrived at sharm at 6am and got on our third bus to Dahab to arrive about 8am at the hotel. Thankfully it is out of season ( everywhere we have traveled we have traveled out of season) and we have got a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the sea for 100 egytian pounds or 10 english pounds.
Dahab is a big diving resort due to the coral reefs just off the coast and therefore it is not a beach resort. Although there is a long strip just for tourists with lots of hotels and restaurants it somehow does not feel over crowded/cramped and it still has a lovely relaxing atmosphere with Bedouin style seating just by the sea. I am loving the breakfasts here which consist of falafel, tahini, aubergine, beans, pita bread and cheese. Karl is loving his of sausages, egg, bread, bacon and beans - so we are in heaven!
We are spending our days relaxing reading and sunbathing (or at least I am). We had a good trip to the blue hole where we went snorkling. The reef was only about 1ft below the surface and therefore you could only float above it or go into the circular hole to see all the amazing coloured fish that were out there. I really wish I had bought an underwater camera so I could have taken their pictures.
Dahab was a really wonderful place and I will definately think about coming back here on a 2 week holiday since it is not too overcrowded and sunny and fabulous weather. Just a shame the waiters are a little overbearing and sleezy!
