It's 2:45AM Sunday morning.  My flight from LAX got rerouted to Taipei because of volcanic activity in northern Russia causing some severe weather (yeah, seems random)...so we stopped and got fuel.  I missed my flight to Manila due to this delay, but thankfully they got me on the very next one.  Expectedly, my baggage has not arrived.  I changed money, got to the hotel, checked in, took a shower and came across the street to check my email and grab some water from 7-11.  Johnathan and tha group should be in from Banaue in an hour or so, but I probably won't wait up for him. This first thing I did when getting into my hotel room was take a shower and wash my clothes, since I'll be needing them the next few days!!  I'm sure my baggage will show up SOON.  It did last year.
I met some interesting people in the airport today.  All asked my profession (=student) and what I was studying (=marine science).  This one guy from Salt Late City asked my favorite fish and I responded with "either Lionfish or Toadfish", and he immediately pulled out a piece of artwork (a small mounted poster) that was a marine theme centered around a lionfish.  He thought it was fate and random that we met and he gave me the poster as a gift!  How generous.
I also ran into a father & son traveling to S. Africa that I had seen at the Special Passport Issuance Agency in D.C.  Another small-worldism is that I met someone wearing a Boracay t-shirt and found out he will be traveling there in a few weeks, too.  One more guy my age, on my Manila flight tonight, is Filipino and will ALSO be traveling to Boracay.  I knew it was a popular place, but I didn't realize how much!
Otherwise, I tried to sleep during the 15 hour flight, watched movies, The Office, Da Ali G Show, a Seinfeld special and an episode of Friends.  I was thoroughly pleased when I found these shows because I was sick of watching the same parts of The Painted Veil, Mrs. Potter and The Holiday over and over and over... you get the point.
Hmm, okay, I'm going to run nextdoor to the 7-11 and grab a bottle of water and a snack.
Have a good day/night and I'll check back in soon!
Cheers! and ZZZzzzzzzzz
