We were in the park only half an hour before we saw a bunch of vehicles together - we speeded over to see a Rhino, he was heading off away from the commotion, started running across the plains was amazing to see it. There are only 28 known Rhinos in the crater so to see one is lucky. The day continued on and we saw a lion too meaning we had now seen the big 5, rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard - our guide George said this was very good luck for a 3 day safari
We heading down to the watering hole for lunch, this area is where all the animals come to around this time of day to drink, some more cautiously than others in fear of the lions, the wildebeest and zebra linger around till one goes then the other follow so funny to watch.
We sat down to have lunch and George warned us to be careful of the rapture birds as they often swoop and steal people's lunch, thinking he was over reacting since there were loads of other people there too eating we opened our lunch boxes to eat. After a few mins I lifted my chicken to take a bit and next thing I knew this bird had came from behind me and tried to get my chicken I felt its touch my face, I got the fright of my life and threw my chicken at Marc and the bird flew away. I had let out such a scram that everyone was now laughing at me. My chicken was entact....3 second rule right so I finished scoffing it this time taking note of the dam bird that was circling us. See the pic below for the bird its massive haha!!
Later that afternoon we headed back to Arusha, it was a 4-5 hour drive back but had great chat with George about African life, stopped off for a few beers en route and had a great wee afternoon getting back.
Cant believe our safari is over it was truly amazing experience, from the animals we got to see in their natural environment, to the amazing lodges we stayed at we would definitely recommend it.
