We arrived in Mendoza around 7pm after our bus journey from Santiago. Thankfully we found the bus ok and we had front seats upstairs with the best views. Leaving the city the Andes were in front of us and after about 2 hours we were climing high up through them around some of the tightest bends with a only a few feet between the tyres and literally the edge of the road with a sheer drop down no walls or nothing to stop any vehicles going over !!, you can see the road in the pics.

The views however were utterly amazing, its coming into summer here so most of the snow has gone but some of the higher mountains still had snow.  We had opted for semi cam seats (with Cata International) which recline pretty good and we got served a drink and a sandwich too – buses in Argentina are luxury, ours was the cheapest seat and it was our second best ever after the one we had in Singapore so its great.

Border Control
We had to stop at border control which was a random building in the middle of the mountains, the whole process there took a whopping 3 hours as there were buses in front and you have to get all your bags off and get scanned and the also selected a few to be opened and searched then all our our hand luggage was searched.  There seemed to be no rush to this and there was only 2 people doing it so it took ages.  The guy started to look in our hand luggage and then asked where we were from, as soon as we said UK he just said ok and waived us away, this has happened quite a few times with us, seems people from the UK don't have anything untoward in their bags haha – not complaining hehe.

After border control we got back on the bus and we both ended up falling asleep for 3 hours and woke up in Mendoza – what a result getting any sleep on a bus is a bonus and 3 hours is good goiong haha.  We jumped in a taxi and headed to our hotel we had booked online, we received a free bottle of red wine for checking in which was great, we then headed out on a hunt for our first steak.

Steak Feast
We found a restaurant a few blocks away and ordered ourselves 2 fillet steaks, chips n wine and we were not dissapointed it was utterly delicous.  You don’t order your steak by size here you just pick what kind you want and they all come out LARGE haha this thing was massive and well tasty and so cheap.  We staggered back to the hotel absolutely stuffed and passed out.
