Pre-Trip Preparation
Entry 1 of 69 | show all | print this entry |
The summer is ending in New Hampshire which signals the time I shall be leaving for my world trip. The main things I had to do preparing for the trip was determining what to pack, getting financial stuff in order, packing everything else in storage and determining what to do with my car.
Well what to pack was a little difficult because I'll be gone for 7 months in almost a dozen countries with terrain and weather I am unfamiliar with. I decided to backpack and get a sweet pack from EMS, a bunch of packing organizer things, and bring about 5 changes of clothes, and a dozen socks/boxer-briefs. As for all the other tasks it was just a matter of actually doing something productive during the day.
I guess the main questions people would have are the standard Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. Who - Just me, I'll be visiting people along the way. What - A world trip to get out and see the world. When - Sept. 7th 2004 - March 2005 Where - England, Ireland, France, Austria, Germany, India, Thailand, Taiwan, China and maybe Japan. Why - I've always wanted to do this since I was a kid. Foreign places fascinated me, especially London, Paris, India and any Asian culture. How - I don't have any secrets, I simply saved money when I was working by keeping my costs down. Then I decided to leave work when the time was optimal.
I'm ready to go...
