And once in Thailand....it starts raining!

After arriving on that airplane with propellers, we got a a minibus that took us to our hotel and the day looks just glorious! Gorgeous beaches, gorgeous weather, and a smile on all our faces. We needed the beach more than anything. TIME TO RELAX!

We made it to our hotel which we booked for decently cheap ($8.50 a person per night which is cheap in such a tourist town like this one) and when we enter the room we discover that the room is an apartment! A bedroom, a livingroom, an awesome bathroom, minifridge, etc. Not too shabby...thanks hostelworld.com.

We settle down and run to the beach. On our way there we are asked at least 50 times, like it happens everywhere in SE Asia, if we "want Taxi" but like always we say no and walk faster so they don't get annoying. Also we looked for Thai boxing tickets but spending 30 dollars for that is not in my plans (when bangkok is $15 apparently). On the beach we just drop our stuff and jump in the beautiful water with amazing waves. The sand is white and with water seems like clay. Needless to say I stayed there sitting playing with the clay like sand for a good 10 minutes. I was very amused. This ain't no Stamford Cove beach...ahaha.

While on the beach for 2 hours two storms came by. It's awesome here because storms last 5 to 10 minutes then the sky clears up. Also these storms are very pinpointed and any times it will rain 500 meters from you and you can just look at the cloud and the storm while on the other side it's sunny and clear. Pretty neat.

Following that we went home, got ready, got an amazing seafood dinner for something around 6 dollars with calamari, spaghetti with seafood, etc. Then cam home, passed out for an hour or so while Dominique who wasn't tired started drinking a bit (oh did she regret that later). Once we woke up and after 1 or 2 mix drinks we went out for the most unexpected kind of partying so far. The nightlife here consists of tons and I mean TONS of bars all next to each other in hallways. The bars consist of a bar-counter and 5 to 10 stools...then another bar-counter with another 10 stools. Each blasting their own music...and a lot of tourists just drinking. The sad part of this is that we saw an insane amount of prostitution or what I think is prostitution. All this area was filled with Thai girls that look average age 18-20 and have barely any clothing. And these girls are all over you if you are a male. So any older (past 40) men are sitting at bars with these younger girls all around them. Really a reality check. Anyway, what stood out is that all these bars have Connect 4. You can play against the bartender for drinks and whatnot. Shady lost and had to pay for the bartender's drink. But she was awesome. Also other games are involved. Really interesting atmosphere.

Today we spent most of the day recovering (Dom was in bed all afternoon) and then we booked some hotels for our next stays in Thailand, and then Shady and I saw it was a gorgeous day so we decided to go to the beach at about 2PM which is exactly when it started puring. Once at the beach it look like a damn Tsunami so we walked back home compeltely drenched just to see the rain stop 15 minutes after we got home. Then tonight some more nice seafood, bars again, and now we are going to sleep early as tomorrow we are waking up at 6 to go to Koh Phi Phi, also known as paradise on earth...

Ciao from Phuket, tourism capital of Thailand.

Cove Island
We don't go to Cove for the beautiful beaches, we go for the sporadic BBQing and the primo clamming. Get your shit straight next time.
