June 24, 2009

I headed to my kid's place to watch them, and it was pretty much like normal. I read to Cosme for a while then made another tarte. Then the mom came home and wrote out my check and then I had to write some letter saying that I was leaving and going to the US. I'm not really sure why I wrote it, but the mom was freaking out. After I left there, I was really excited to have gotten paid twice so I head to the bank to make sure I was paid for teaching too. No luck at all. I have tons of stuff to buy and I have to pick up cookies for my kid's last days. So I head to the bank after lunch to check again but still nothing. I deposit my check but that doesn't go in right away so I don't have any money. Ugh. I had to break into my American account just to get the cookies. It's so annoying. They always pay us the last Wed of the month but I guess they decided not to this time. Great. At least I have food. I still had to shop for stuff for tomorrow and Friday. I had to use the credit card for that. It was so annoying. Why don't they tell us if they're going to wait a few days before paying us? Some people live paycheck to paycheck. It's just cruel and lazy. The good thing about this is I'm now officially ready to head back to the States where people are reliable. Thank goodness.

Today was my big last day. My first group of kids were the older ones, and we had a pretty good time. It was Sarah and Eminé's class and the kids were great. I gave the girls rings and the boys the little pill things that turn into animal sponges. They really liked it. The girls got mad because they didn't get the pill things. What they don't realize is that you can keep those rings but the sponges will be lost or destroyed by the end of the day. We also had a lot to eat. They had brought brownies and coke. I'd brought the cookies so we were set. Pretty much the rest of the day was just hanging out. One girl, Alizée, actually gave me a necklace!! It was SO sweet. It's such a nice gift. Others gave me drawings and stuff like usual. Then at the end of class they signed my French flag and we took a lot of pictures. The next class came in, Aidan's class, and the same things happened. Gifts, food, flag, and pictures. It was fun. Chloé gave me a painting (not a drawing, a painting in a frame) which she had made herself. How cool huh? This class was fun and afterward I got a ton of hugs. Even Mathieu, one of the boys, gave me a HUGE hug. Usually the boys run away screaming so I was so excited about that. I ran home at lunch because one of the boys had spilled my crackers and I needed to get some more for the afternoon. I'd brought peanut butter for them to try. Most French people haven't ever tried it and it was fun to see how they reacted.

The afternoon came and it was an adventure. They are really sweet and we did the same things as before, but they were flipping crazy. I was yelling SO much. I kept trying to tell them that this was my last class with them and they need to be nice to me but there was so much excitement they would not shut up. Julien's class was so fun. Julien came begging me to stay next year, and Jeremy revealed that he loved me :). haha Gotta love these kids.

After school I went to the bank and still hadn't been paid but my check went through from yesterday so I could get some stuff done. I went to a kids' game store and got a couple posters and a French game. Then I headed to Carrefour to get everything else I needed for the rest of my time here.

My last day at La Croix Jeannette. These are my worst classes so I knew it was going to be awful. I get there and my first class (Emma's) was great. They didn't leave crumbs everywhere to clean up, they weren't yelling the whole time, it was a great experience. Emma was a sweetie and gave me an Eiffel Tower necklace and Kraft macaroni and cheese. haha The next class came in and it was just as I expected. I yelled louder in this class than I ever had before, which is really saying something. We did have a good time still eventually. Yanis was a lot more upset about me leaving than I thought he would have, and he kept giving me tons of hugs, which again is weird for boys. It was so cute. We've been buddies ever since he made fun of me a long time ago :). Now I'm at home full of mac and cheese and I'm going to head out to do some more of my shopping. Hopefully I've been paid today. We'll see.
