One thing I could not believe that the hostel charged a euro for every fifteen minutes of using the stove. What a rip off! Oh well!
Innsbruck was absolutely beautiful! It was my first time seeing the Alps! The weather was really foggy when I arrived so the entire train ride I did not even really know whether there were mountains or now. The next day was beautiful and I woke up surrounded by magnificent mountain peaks! I bought a student pass that gave me unlimited use of the trams. There were 6 trams total in the area. Innsbruck has mostly Austrians and Germans working in the snowboard industry. There was even snow at the tops of most peaks. My highlight of the stay was the Swavorsky Museum by the Swavorsky manufacturing shop. It was every womans fantacy. There were huge crystals, christmas trees in crystals and many computerized demonstrations to make it seem like crystal paradise. Of course there was a Swavorsky shop at the end brilliantly lit so every crystal sparkled but it was so nice! That night I hung out with some people from the hostel - a Brisilian and some Germans. The train ride out of Innsbruck was so beautiful eventhough it was at 7 in the morning, I could not sleep because of the beautiful, green mountainous landscapes. The Austrian alps are heavily populated which was neat and Innsbruck was their capital and it is like Jasper, but bigger and much more green. I do like how the rockey mountains in Canada seem more pristine because they are not heavily industrialized and populated but most of Austria is mountains so I do not think the have a choice!
