Relax, no long tome this time, Montgomery was to be just a stop along the way and it was really. The journey down however did have its moments. We left the state park having plotted our route on Mary as usual, confirming the existence of the roads on Google - we've been caught out before!
Now Mary sometimes takes a while to find us, my theory is sometimes she's cold (the satellite receiver that is) sometimes the weather is very overcast, sometimes she's slipped and is not in the right position, sometimes we're deep in a valley... well what ever - sometimes she takes a while to find us. This can be an issue if we have a tricky route out of a city, but today it was straightforward, out of the camp site - turn right, a couple of other turns at forthcoming junctions and hey presto we'd be on the 82, the main road we needed. However...
the road soon deteriorated into a track, not usually a problem when we're in Toad "I have all wheel drive" is usually Malc's comforting line, but in Bree it's a bit different. Overhanging branches and a narrowing width and the dry soil surface became concerning. Mary as yet, was no help at all. We paused, after all it was hardly a busy road, the quizzical look from a lonely householder told us that not many RV's roll along this way! Having given Mary time to catch up, all to no avail I might add, we really had little choice but to continue as there was no where wide enough to turn around even if we unhooked. Was it because it was 29th Feb? Had the computer thrown a wobbly? We rebooted and drove cautiously on, since there were no names on any of the tracks we couldn't be sure we were OK but at last we crossed a railway line (no barriers/warning lights of course) and I was able to see where we were. The track became a road about 10 yards before the highway so that was alright then!
