Du Doo   Du Doo...this will only make sense to those of you who are old enough to remember the 80's TV series 'Dallas' you know 'Who shot JR? ..S'wellin's husband...Bobby in the shower... etc etc Well anyway the opening sequence was aerial shots of the skyscrapers down town and this was one of the things we'd remembered and wanted to see for ourselves. You can actually tour South Fork Ranch but we passed on that one. One thing that will stay in my mind after walking around downtown is how ****** windy and cold it was!! But the buildings were spectacular; .

Sadly our planned visit to the Revolution Tower where we'd hoped to see the city from its high vantage point was thwarted due to the fact that it was closed for renovation. Reunion Tower at the Hyatt

On a more serious note Dallas is also remembered of course as being the city where JFK was assassinated. To our generation most of whom can recall where they were when it happened; it was a devastating moment in history.
It may seem macabre but there is a museum dedicated to JFK and his assassination, actually on the 6th floor of the book depository from where the gunman shot. And to quote, President Kennedy himself said that "history is the memory of a nation." History is poorly served by burying the past. So we headed for the museum, http://www.jfk.org/home.htm Why is it that everything looks smaller in real life than you imagine it? When JFK was shot I was 11 - I remember the day though (it may have been the day after) I watched the news bulletin on TV unaware of the effect on the world. The more I read/listened to in the museum the more I came to the conclusion that we just want to believe in conspiracy more than a single "random act", a bit like statistics you can find enough "facts" to prove anything you like. One thing I do believe is - we will never really know. But now we have been there, looked out of the windows at the cross on the road where the first shot was fired then a few yards on where the last one hit. The grassy knoll is still there and our memories remain but the truth??? THE window
