Taking stock...one year on
I suppose if we're truthful we've managed to escape the shackles of 'normal' life to become modern day gypsies, well at least for half a year at a time!
You may wonder what happens in between blogs; since the last one- 15th November, no we weren't abducted by aliens, we've just been pottering really. Living on the road as we are, there are still what we call 'housekeeping' chores to do; not to mention trying to keep up with these here blogs so y'all know what we're up to! Things like the washing, but NO ironing I hasten to add! De bugging Bree's windscreen, little maintenance jobs like repairing the fridge handle, hoses etc etc. and we don't 'do' things every single day. Then of course there is celebrating...today is our first anniversary. It was a year ago that we naively hit the road as RV virgins, waving farewell to our mentor Doug and setting out on the first leg of our adventure, Trish had enlisted all her work colleagues to join her in a wave as we drove past her office. They are truly very special friends who helped make all this possible. We have many miles of tarmac under our wheels since then, we are in our 27th state. There have been times of laughter, moments of awe inspiring scenery and times of despair when things have not gone right, times when one or other of us seriously considered leaving the other and going home! But all in all it must have been good or we wouldn't have come back for more. This time around we are not so green, a bit more relaxed and probably a bit more patient with each other. There is so much still to see, so many new places to visit, who knows how many 'legs' there will be. One thing we are sure about is that our choice of Bree was exactly right, we have every comfort we need and Malc is very at home behind the wheel. The notion that we can just hook up Toad and move on whenever and wherever we want is still amazing.
