We'd had a brill time in Yellowstone - but it was definitely time to move south, we keep saying that I know but this morning when we woke to find it had snowed over night...well how many more signs d'you need? The campsite is actually closing today for the season, it's as if the country is shutting down behind us! Thankfully the sun was shining brightly, just as well as Malc had to negotiate a very slippery roof to scrape the snow from the awning that covers the top of the slide. No point in rolling that up and taking the snow with us!

As we drove the 50 or so miles back to the interstate, retracing our route for the first time ever - there was only the one road - the magical countryside sparkled in the morning sunlight.

We saw very little other traffic but that's not surprising when you think about how few people live around here. Our common conversation goes like this: "Isn't it pretty/ beautiful/ amazing here...could you live here?...No I don't think so!" One day it'll be scary when the answer is "Yes"
Anyway, thankfully we didn't end up driving in snow, something we definitely don't want to do in Bree. Gradually, once we had left the mountains behind, the landscape opened up before us. Back on a main road, which once again swept into the distance, we made our way to Billings. You probably think we're mad as this is actually north of where we've been, but we're heading for South Dakota to make one last stop before we high tail it south. In fact as the temperature was higher by about 20degrees F it was quite a good decision!
