The last time I was in Bangkok, I was brought by the flow of sea - amazing cruise ship. This is my first time in Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The spacious airport welcomed both me and my friend nicely. After a short stroll in the shopping area, we queued up for immigration. The lines were long, but the excitement for being in Thailand with my best friend had shorten the wait.

Originally I wanted to propose to my friend for us to use Bangkok Metro to get us from the airport to town. However, considering this would be her first time abroad (after so long) and in a country which English is not the first language, we opted for a taxi to carry us to hotel.

Baan Silom - one of many famous recommended areas for travelers to stay while in Bangkok. We were surfing on the internet and found a good room package in The Heritage Baan Silom hotel. Our original plan was a 3 days and 2 nights stay, but we ended up in Bangkok for another one day extra. Taxi ride from the airport to the hotel took about half an hour, but we had to spend additional 15 minutes because apparently there is another Heritage hotel in the same area. Lucky for us that we did not go out from the taxi. Mr Taxi Driver was very nice to help us and ask the hotel if this is the right hotel that we were supposed to stay.

When we arrived at the hotel, the it was slightly pass two in the afternoon. After climbing the stairs (unfortunately the hotel does not have elevator), we had ran out of breath and energy. Thus, we decided to take a brief rest before heading out. The hotel is located among a newly refurbished commercial area. The architecture of the building was somehow colonial - of course the hotel is also designed to be a boutique hotel.

I decided to take a quick shower before going out. The bathroom in the room has clear glass as wall, so love birds may love the room design - you can see your partner taking shower..!!! While we were figuring out the map, we head out to look something to eat. Luckily, there was a Moroccan restaurant. Both of us were trying to figure out if there is any HALAL eating place, if there is any, or to find a place that serves minimal meat content on the menu. The Moroccan restaurant serves HALAL dishes - both of us immediately sit down and ordered.

After late lunch, me and my friend decided for us to go back to hotel and take a short rest. It was proven that rest was beneficial - since we were planning to spend our evening at Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok. A tuk-tuk ride (travelers must experience riding on this when you are in Thailand) from our hotel to HRC Bangkok was about 20 minutes. It was difficult to see the HRC sign because the place was under major renovation. Even the HRC shop was operating in a very small area. However, both of us were very lucky because that night the Unison Band was performing. The band had cute, handsome and talented musicians and they were playing all great music all night long. We enjoyed the few hours in HRC - in fact by the time we left the place, it was almost midnight.

First day was over, but the next day was even more interesting - it was shopping day.
