We left Hervey Bay and headed for Airlie Beach. This is where the boats leave for The Whitsunday Islands. We arrived there late at night after a 10 hour drive. We had now crossed into the Tropics which meant extreme humidity. It reached 96% humidity! That night we got completely rained out! Our tent was soaked right through. It rained most of the next day so that night we stayed in a campotel. It is like a tepee tent but has a proper bed. It rained all night again and the weather forecast predicted more to come. We decided to forget about the Whitsundays. Like everything in Austalia if the weather isn't good then there's no point! By this stage we were getting really sick of it. The weather was getting us down. We only had 5 or 6 clear days since leaving Melbourne. On top of the weather was the price of everything. No matter how much we scrimped and saved we still always managed to blow our daily budget. We were starting to really look forward to New Zealand...
