During our last week in Melbourne we had lots to do but we managed to fit in an Aussie Rules football match, the opening of the Commonwealth Games and of course St Paddy's Day which was also our leaving party. We went to an Irish Bar that closed the street off and set up a stage in the middle of the road. Everyone was Irish for the day. The Guinness was flowing and so was the craic. It was an all day affair which turned into an all night affair when we took some of the Welsh Commonwealth team out on the raze with us for the night. It was a fantastic night and a great way to say goodbye to all the great friends we made in Melbourne.
The next day we went to pick up our new 1986 Ford Telstar which would be our road wagon, bed and friend for the next month. That night we shook off our hangovers and headed out for the last supper with Mairead's family. We went to a unique restaurant in Melbourne's Docklands. We ate our way through most of the Aussie animals including emu, kangaroo, wallaby, possum and croc. Why have soup for starters when you can have marsupials! The next day we cruised off in our new Telstar and were waved goodbye by Brenda and Kerry. It feels good to be back on the road again!
