By the time we got jobs and the week night sessions were all but at an end except for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Conor got a job in a duty free warehouse which was great fun because he got to sniff all his favourite ladies' perfumes. Mairead joined the Greek community when she got a job in a "feta joint."
Eventually we got round to doing another "tourist thing" and headed to the Great
Ocean Road for the weekend. This is one of Australia's must do things. It is home of the 12 Apostles, of which only 8 or 9 still stand. Judas and doubting Thomas were bull dozed and Peter is just a rock now!
We got up early and collected our friends Sarah and Danny and headed for Sorrento- a small town on the tip of the Morington Pennisula, a 3 hour drive from Melbourne.
We had some lunch there and then caught the ferry across to Queenscliff on the other side of Port Philip Bay
After we left Lorne we hit the Great Ocean Road proper! It is a windy road with spectacular views of coastline and beaches. The twists and turns got a bit too much for Sarah who was a bit casper like by the time we pulled over to let her regurgitate her breakfast. Shortly after we had to pull in again and it wasn't for Sarah's sake this time. We had just spotted some ecualiptus drunken furballs aka koalas. We pulled in and watched them climb around. It was great to see them in their natural environment. We drove on and got to the 12 Apostles 5 hours later. They definitely lived up to hype and were beautiful! Back to Melbourne by 10.30 that night and normal service resumed on Monday.

. The ferry was followed by a family of dolphins who showed us all there tricks. We stopped at Torquay beach, the home of Ripcurl. It was lashing down so we only managed to run out to the beach for 1 photo before getting soaked. We drove for a few more hours before pulling into Lorne, one of the most lively towns on the Great ocean Road. We checked into a backpackers and then hit the beach to drink a few cheap bottles of wine. When they were done we went to a bar for a few more, then headed back to the hostel.
