We were starting to settle into life in Melbourne and almost forgot we were tourists apart from the fact that we still had no jobs, drank most week nights and slept most afternoons. Just like most other Aussies! There are lots of tourist things to do in Melbourne and Victoria and so we thought we better start doing some. Top of the list was Philip Island a 3 hour drive from Melbourne on the south coast of Australia. It is home to over 1,000 little penguins which are not much more than 1 foot tall. Each night at sunset they return from a 300 mile fishing trip and shyly sneak out of the water in front of an audience of at least 1,000 who sit quietly to watch the little dudes waddle up the beach. No cameras are allowed so everyone sits quietly in the cold just watching but it was well worth it
