We didn't actually intend to spend any time here, we were on our way to Kuala Lumpur and had to stop here to change buses. Conor had a fever brewing all day and it was getting worse. By the time we reached Butterworth he was becoming extremely hot and dillusional. We had to pull the plug on the bus and go to the nearest hospital. He was admitted straight away, put on a monitor , hooked up to a drip, injected with pain killers and kept in overnight with a temperature of 41! The next day the doctor told Conor he had dengue fever (a viral infection spread by female mosquitos). All he could do was rest and take paracedemol and after 10 days he should be better. We went straight to a hotel and stayed there for 2 days. Conor said it was the worst sickness he had ever had and without going into detail the next few days were pretty grim.
