Krabi was definitely the nicest place we have been to in Thailand. We decided to go to Rai Lay beach which is only accessible by boat even though it is still part of the mainland, this is because of the huge karst limestone formations. Rai Lay is split into the east side and west side. The east side is the backpacker end and therefore slightly grubbier whereas the west side has some villas for 6,000 quid a night so obviously we stayed on the east side as our budget just couldn't stretch the extra grand but we did take advantage of the west's beaches which is what most backpackers do. The beaches are amazing and are easily the nicest we have seen so far. Krabi has been described as one of the most beautiful places on earth and we can definitely understand this statement as it is truly beautiful. For that reason 2 days here passed very easily without actually doing anything. The day we were leaving the sun came out in force, even though it wasn't sunshine every day at least it was dry unlike the islands on the Gulf where it is still raining heavily. In fact, 27 people have died so far as a result of the rain and floods.
