Any hopes we still had lingering that the rain would stop were dashed! Bucket loads! But we were used to it by now and just wanted to get on with it. We had missed the black moon party by a day but were grateful when we heard how bad it was from some of the 100 strong crowd (usually 100 times that) that had braved the elements to rough it out. On our first night we went clubbin in Hat Rinn with a few girls we met. We got back to our guesthouse by 5.30am and just by chance the rain stopped and the stars came out, there was only 1 thing we could do....go swimming! After an hour or 2 in the water it was time for breakfast followed by bed. We managed to sleep our way through the next day of rain and when we eventually creaked our heads around the door at 5pm the rain was just easing. We had a stroll around town for a few hours, got a bit to eat and headed round to the Irish Bar for a few games of pool where we met some of the lads we went tubing with in Vang Vieng (Laos). Things were a bit more civilised this time though as they had been hitting it pretty hard too. We watched football and had a beer or two and headed home for an early night. We are heading for Phuket this afternoon. It seems the weather is more or less the same there too. Its hard to appreciate these islands without the sun as everything revolves around good weather...just like Belfast, Not!
The Internet cafes here are full of other travellers on weather sites trying to figure out how to escape the rain so we will probably wait our turn and then hit the road. Write soon.
