Arrived in Ko Samui yesterday only to be met with the most savage rain the Islands have had in 40 years! We thought we'd planned it perfectly. The end of the rainy season is between the end of October and beginning of November , so we were preparing ourselves for some serious sun. What we were met with was the aftermath of a series of flash floods that had wrecked homes, businesses, and most importantly the beaches! They were trashed with rubble, glass, trees and the contents of the sewers that had overflown. Bummer! Because most things revolve around the beach activities during the day we were left to wallow in our rooms feeling sorry for ourselves. We had some fun passing the day by selecting songs from our i-pod that mentioned anything to do with the sun, rain or any other aspect of the weather. Here are some that made it:
Good Day Sunshine (Beatles), Sunday Shining (Bob Marley), Sunny Afternoon (Kinks), It's The Sun (Polyphonic Spree) Hello Sunshine (Superfurry Animals) and Should I stay or should i go (The Clash) And you wonder why drunk men get caught out?

.

It was great fun! It kept our spirits high and after a few hours of laughter darkness fell and the rain didn't matter any more as the bars started to fill up. We pulled our t-shirts over our heads and ran towards the first neon lights we could see. " I'll have 2 beers please love....er...mate?" said our attractive" waitress in a strange deep voice! We spun around as the curtain lifted, and the show began. Suddenly it all added up, her voice was deep for a reason, and that wasn't a pair of socks down her trousers VOILA THE LADY BOYS!!! A flamboyant spectical of colours and feathers unfolded Moulin Rouge style! What a show!! After an hour of entertainment we laughed our way to the next bar where the usual series of events unfolded. We woke up the next day with a serious Chang -over (local beer) and head for Ko Phangan this afternoon where we hope the will pick up!
