Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang used to be the capital of Laos and it is definitely a lot nicer than the current capital. It is a mixture of old French colonial and Chinese architecture, which makes it stand out from the other cities and towns in Laos. To be honest there is not a lot to write about. One day we went to visit the waterfalls which were worth it despite the 30km drive there and back. On the way back we stopped at a village in the hills and met the local tribes people. At night we chilled by the Mekong, but it was not for the single traveller as it was quite romantic. We hooked up with a few people we had met last month in Cambodia and had a good night.
One day we went to the Phousi mountain (which is pronounced slightly different than it sounds in English) Anyway, it had some spectacular views of Luang Prabang. We also visited a few Temples and Wats which were interesting. We were a bit disappointed that everything closed down at and it was hard to fill the evenings. There was a lovely night market where we haggled Laos style for a few souvenirs, which means you give them your price and they agree. Going to try and head north to the mountains tomorrow.
