Spent the last few days in Saigon. Left Phnom Pehn early on the 22nd, had a pretty smooth border crossing with no hassle really. The whole journey was about 12 hours, so by the time we got a place to stay sorted out and a bit of food we were fit only for bed. The next day we headed off early for the Cu Chi region. This area played an important part in the American War (as it is known here). It has a network of Viet Cong tunnels which are over 250km in total, on 3 different levels and stretch as far as the border with Cambodia. We finished the day off with a few hours at the War museum which is definitely worth a visit if you want to learn what really went on in the war. After doing the tourist bit all day we felt as though we'd earned a drink, so what better place to start than the 20p a litre bar!! Armed with 50,000 dong roughly $3 we were ready for a big night! The bar itself was a load of kiddies tea party tables with chairs to match which spilled out on to the street. The locals didn't look to bad, but it was not hard to spot the foreigners. We had a good night with a kiwi guy, his Canadian girl and a beast of a guy called Rex, a "hommie" from Brooklyn who happened to be in town setting up his new business as a loan shark! We ended up smuggling two litres of rum into a all night club called Lost in Saigon (which we highly recommend). We managed to trail ourselves out of bed at about 4pm the next day. Got ready and went for breakfast an hour later by which time the tour bus that we were supposed to be on had just rolled back from the Mekong Delta. Just missed that one!! It was more of the same the next night, we leave for Mui Ne tomorrow.
