We started off by barely making our train to Florence where we sat next to a man with congestive heart failure, and boy was he ever a peach...  The ride was about two hours and once in Florence we realized that their sewer system was a wee bit outdated!

We took a quick cab ride and checked into our lovely hotel, the Montebello Splendid.  It was a lot nicer than the bed and breakfast in Rome and we were happy to find a jacuzzi tub in our bathroom, which I utilized immediately, robe and all.

Once clean we walked to the Duomo, which is the second biggest church in Italy to meet up with Lorenzo, who I know through Frank, and his cousin Alex, a firefighter from Oceanside.  We saw a few sights and I bought a white hat for 10 euro (It just felt right).  Before dinner we sat in a Piazza, drinking sangria while listening to music.

During dinner we order the bisteca del fiorentina, which runs 1 kg each, or over 2 lbs.  We washed the steaks down with 4 liters of free table wine and went back to our hotels, where Chris passed out while I was in the bathroom.  I met up with Lorenzo and Alex sansa Chris and we went bar hopping.  We met a few American ladies and we agreed to split a cab to the night club, sadly once we got there they decided that they did not really want to come after all so we did what all classy twenty-somethings are expected to do, run away and leave them with the taxi bill :)  I felt a little bad in retrospect but I think they will be ok.

At the club I got my first lesson in approaching Italian women, they all think thy are better than you.  We spent most of the night man dancing in a circle like a group of soroity girls in the States but we laughed it off and had fun getting shot down by the Italian locals.  I got back to the room at at around 4:45 sweaty and laughing and woke Chris up to talk about the night.
