Show trip route
great, happier each day to have joined this program. Here is an update of my whereabouts;
I was not able to write about Paris anymore, but the whole trip in Europe was
awesome and I took side trips to Spain, Belgium and Holland. I am now in Japan
but I will write about it later this week, for now here is a little about my
trip in China:
I love China! Leaving Paris was hard, I had fallen in love
with that city, but fortunately Shanghai was a great replacement, sorry Paris
We arrived Sunday afternoon (15 hours ahead of Cali) and already I have
declared that I love it here, love at first sight indeed.
Coming from such an expensive city, Shanghai appears twice
as cheap to us, possibly leading to over-shopping. It is estimated that one
could live here on $10 a day...but we are taking advantage of the undervalued
Yuan and prefer to live like kings/queens. My treat after an 11 hour
flight...an hour long foot massage for about 7 dollars! Simply amazing! I also
got my hair washed (very common here), trimmed and styled for $11, oh did I
mention that it includes a scalp, back and arm massage? And the same goes for
food, well if you have a native with you to help you order, let's just say that
sometimes you just don't know what you are going to get and once you get it you
still can't figure it out
Chinese girls in our group and they are helping us survive.
Erick took us to the acrobats' show-wow! It was worth every
penny or Yuan. It's amazing what the human body is capable of, take the
chandelier girl for example at one point I couldn't tell her legs
from her arms. The show truly exemplified the Chinese people and culture, very
peaceful, controlled, balanced, ordained, and full of grace and beauty.
The best thing so far is the tailor market. I have gone
twice and I ordered 3 suits, 2 shirts, 1 pair of pants, and counting. Shanghai
is known for its skilled tailors, which conjure in certain locations and offer
quality products at incredibly low prices, allowing the customer to choose the
fabric and meeting every specification requested. We simply can't believe it
yet; I would come back to China simply to get more clothes made, of course.
