Day 15: July 4, 2007 Guayaquil to Brevard
Once we were airborne I started writing and did so until the movie, "Blades of Glory" came on. It was much better than I thought it would be. I fell asleep as soon as it ended and was awakened at 4:30 for breakfast which was awful. I managed to sleep for another hour before we landed.
Immigration and customs went smoothly. Reclaiming Barbara's and Russ' bags back at the terminal took awhile but everyone's bags made it. Barbara and I were quickly shuttled to the Avis terminal, dropped off at our car and were on our way. In contrast to our hectic trip down, there was almost no traffic in Atlanta. Even with a McDonald's breakfast stop, we were back in Brevard in 3 hours 20 minutes.
Barbara dropped me off at Liz's house. I noticed that Liz's car was blocking me in so I assumed she was home. Barbara left to return the car to Avis at AVL.
Once inside I realized Liz was uptown at the July 4th festival selling Chico Bags at the Rise 'n Shine booth. I left messages at Avis and Barbara's fone that I would be delayed in picking her up. I walked to the festival but the bag lady was out selling bags on the street. I ran into Tom Collins and told him of our adventures before finding Liz getting a facial massage. She told me where to find her keys and I returned to the house and freed my car. Barbara called as I left and I told her I'd be there in half an hour. Avis had not given her the message. A half hour later, I picked her up and took her to her house where she said good-bye, probably for a year or so.
I returned to Liz's house for warm welcoming, a much-needed shower, and a good meal. I managed to stay awake for the afternoon, showering her with gifts, starting my laundry, and showing my videos. During our meditation, however, I fell asleep.
After dinner, we walked over to the college to watch the fireworks and had a nice conversation with Stan Jacobsen. On the way back to the house we walked with Nonnie Cullipher's niece Brittany.
Liz's strong healing massaging hands had me asleep in no time once we retired: another excellent trip comes to a close.
