Day 199: March 1, 2008 Buenos Aires to Brevard, North Carolina

I dozed a few times but never really slept. Three days of sitting had given me a sore butt and lower back. The wake-up call for breakfast came at 4:00. I ate a basic airline continental breakfast and then channel surfed on the tube until we landed in Atlanta at 5:30. It took a long time for my bags to come off the plane but then customs was a breeze. They just let us walk through without stopping.

I made my way to D Terminal and arrived at my Asheville gate at 6:30. Since I had two hours before my flight, I ate a Burger King Sausage and Egg Croissant. It tasted great-my first fast food in 6 months! I watched CNN until boarding time. We took off right on time and flew over patchy clouds the entire trip to Asheville, arriving right on time, at 10:00. There were only about a dozen of us on the flight but it took more than half an hour for the baggage to arrive at the baggage claim area. Even so, two peoples' bags never arrived. Delta seems to have a chronic baggage problem.

Liz was teaching a Nia class so I waited for another 45 minutes for her to arrive to pick me up. It was like we had never parted a few days ago, so far away from here. We chattered away under a sunny sky the whole way back to Brevard. We pulled into the driveway and unloaded the car. It was over! Six and a half months after leaving, I was home.

This will be my last regular post for this trip but I will write a summary and post it later. Thank you all for reading. It's been a blast!

Lost Baggage
Hi! I just wanted to comment about lost luggage, which is becoming a huge problem at Heathrow...I signed up for a service called globalbagtag.com that helps track down lost luggage fast...they saved me big time and I thought they might be helpful to you. Good luck!
