Wow! Flordia during Spring Break, you must have had a wild time! You might be thinking, but that was not my trip at all. I went to a small Christian college in Siloam Springs, AR. This was our mission trip. We traveled to Flordia to be a part of a Habitat for Humanity team. In case you aren't familiar with the program, Habitat for Humanity is an organization whose purpose is to assit people in getting a home, who would otherwise be unable to purchase a home. So, our main purpose of going to Flordia was to be a part of this wonderful program. We stayed at a campsite in Oklawaha, FL. It was really pretty nice, we had our own cabins, the mess hall was huge and there was a beautiful lake right in the middle of the camp. It was a very tranquil place. We were excited because the weather in AR was in the 50s still and here in FL it was in the 80s.
We mostly worked on two homes. My team did the insulation and ground work. The other team did the rooftops mostly. It was really nice to know that we were giving back to those in need.
Well, you must be thinking that with all that work there was no time for play, oh contrar, there was definately playtime. We visited one of the family members of one of our teammates. While we checked out her gorgeous victorian home we also got to go down to the peir and see alligators up close and personal! Did you know that their eyes glow red in the nighttime! We also went to Daytona Beach one day and spent the entire day, playing in the sand, playing in the ocean, and shopping! More thumbnails ...
