(I said we needed a holiday from our holiday). We have been to all the coastal lookouts to see the spectactular coastline and gorges plus the Natural Bridge and Island Rock. Yesterday we spent a couple of hours at a Bird Park called Rainbow Jungle. It was great. Really well done and landscaped with palms, lily ponds and waterfalls. Lots and lots of birds to see and a fantastic free flight area were all the parrots fly around your head. The sun sets here have been wonderful, especially tonight. Every day this week should be fine. Today we came apon two Motor homes and one was bogged in the soft sand off the shoulder of the road. There were eight young people in them - two from Oz with their French and American friends. They were trying to do a U turn and got into trouble and were getting nowhere trying to dig themselves out. The hero of the day got out his 4x4 rescue kit and had them snatched out in no time.
Now heading to the Gearldton area looking for some quiet bush camping spots away from tourists.
Cheers 4 now
Well we have just had a terrific weekend in Kalbarri. We arrived on Friday night after an enjoyable trip from Shark Bay even though the weather was overcast. Its a pretty spot here and is still nice even though it is obviously popular with tourists. Friday night was good and we fell asleep listening to the crashing surf. Hower we woke Saturday morning to the sound of sprinking rain. This was even more worrying because we had mountains of washing that needed to be done. Anyway it was the only rain all weekend and we have had blue sky and sunshine ever since. One thing we planned to do was have some nice fresh fish from this fishing town. No luck seems they don't sell fresh fish here. They did have some frozen stuff from New Zealand in the supermarket! Our only other problem has been the Kalbarri National Park road has been closed the whole time due to recent heavy rain and we really wanted to go there. Still we have filled the weekend and spent some quality time relaxing too.
