Dubai... that doesn't look like Dubai!

I wake up late again because the ryokan decided not to wake me up with breakfast, per my request, again! This time at least my breakfast is waiting for me and they serve me but I swear they agreed to serve me in bed just yesterday...
Anyways, I'm up and out the door by 9 and head to the temple I saved for last, Fushimi Inari Taisha Temple. This place is famous for its gates and by the time I get there on Blue, I'm expecting big things.
No tickets necessary but to see the whole complex you have to hike 5km, and it isn't flat by any stretch of the imagination. I drench my shirt getting to the top but enjoy every second of the hike. There are literally tens of thousands of gates each erected by a different person.
Because I didn't have a guide or pamphlet of any sort, I can't quite tell you the significance of the various temples, gates and cemeteries spread across the complex, but I can tell you that it was awesome! Easily my favorite place yet in Japan.
I think I'll have to look this one up later because I was really impressed by the whole outdoor compound.
Kyoto was awesome but I had to leave and head to Osaka, via a less than 20 minute shinkansen, to hop on the plane over to Dubai. I contemplate taking a brief city tour of Osaka but decide to check in and relax at the airport for an extra few hours and spend the time catching up on much overdue blogging.
I get to Dubai and am all excited to make the most of my layover, which turns out to be 6 hours and not 30 hours which I had previously thought it was. Well, looks like I will have to go back to Dubai because apparently you aren't even allowed to leave the airport when you are connecting on Emirates, no matter how long your layover is... I finish catching up on my blog and sleep before boarding another plane headed to Moscow! I'm going to Russia!!!
