I went through almost every possible scenario and what I might need to spend a month in the wilderness and crammed it all into one giant pack. It weighed 90 lbs and was almost impossible to put on. I stuffed it into my friend Holly's car and she drove me to Ashland where my wonderful friend Anna let me crash in her guest room. The next morning round 8am I hit the trail at a very slow pace. I took my pack off after a couple hours to rest and consume some calories and thought it would be a great idea to strap my large ziplock freezer bag of trail mix to the outside of my pack. I realized the trail mix was gone 2 miles down the path when I decided to take some pictures. OOPS. At least it lightened up my pack a little.
