After a quick jaunt back home to switch out sleeping bags we were off. We got down to the Eugene area and I thought I would ask Paul if he wanted to get gas so I pulled over. As I pulled into the gas station and turned around to see if Paul was behind me I noticed my bike was smoking. I thought to myself that this might be the end of my trip. What happened was the saddle bags put pressure on the plastic panel that protects your leg. The exhaust has a small piece of metal that keeps the plastic away from the exhaust but I guess the engineers didn't realize that the metal attached to the exhaust might get hot. Well, it did and melted through the plastic, then through my water proof bags, into my extra quart of oil and almost igniting a road flare which was next to 2 arousal cans. That would have been a loud firey mess. Yes, turning around did cross my mind but come on, if that was day one then I want to see what happens on day two.

Now you tell me.
Well now you tell me the whole story. A flare and 2 arousal cans. Well, maybe you would have gotten to Medford a little faster.
Glad everything worked out for you. I'm sure you will have plenty more interesting adventures.
