HI-Lake Louise Alpine Centre

As you can see from the photos we had set our camp up to prevent the pelting rain from soaking us and keep us as warm as possible. Again Janice slept in the van and the rest of us in the tent.  This was our last night so we ere getting excited to that we only had one more day to bike.  The weather was starting to turn and all the parks in the Rockies were closing the next day for the season.  When we woke we knew why – snow had fallen in the night and the temperature was dropping.

We cycled to the edge of Lake Louise where we threw up our hands in victory as we completed another Maaske Family 'dream'.  We were elated to be finished our adventure and head for a hot shower and real bed at the Lake Louise Hostel - HI-Lake Louise Alpine Centre  (http://www.hihostels.ca/westerncanada/359/HI-Lake_Louise_Alpine_Centre.hostel ) .  It seemed a little ‘pricy’ but after so much effort and ‘roughing it’ it felt good to be there.  Ironically, we had our worst sleep of the trip because it was so noisy from people coming and going inside their rooms all night long.

I won’t say that cycling the Rockies was easy BUT it was well worth it.  We had to persevere individually, as a family and even as fellow travellers!!
