We arrived in Santiago from Mendoza at about 6pm and made our way to our hostel. When we got checked in we went in search of a supermarket but came across a really nice looking restaurant so we went in and got really nice food. Mairead ordered chicken and I got wild bore, which was different but very tasty.

On Sunday we went to a few museums and looked around the city a bit. We sat in one of the main squares to relax for a while and heard some music coming form a museum nearby so we went over to see what was going on. In the square of the museum there was a traditional looking dance show with live band, we stayed and looked at that for about 20 minutes until it finished. After that we got some lunch and went to one of the viewing points which was on top of a hill. It took us about 30 minutes to get up but we couldn'tīt see too much because it was very cloudy and was starting to rain. After the viewing point we got some food for dinner and went back to the hostel. We met some Irish, English and Americans and drank with them for the night. The hostel also made a drink which was very similar to mulled wine for everyone so we werenīt short of alcohol :)

The following day is was still raining so we couldn't do too much that involved being outside so we went to a shopping centre for a few hours. We spent the rest of the day in the hostel chatting to other guests who were also hiding from the rain.

On Tuesday we went to the bus station after breakfast to get a bus to Valparaiso. Luckily there was a bus leaving 5 minutes later so we bought tickets for it and settled in for a pretty short journey. Santiago is a lovely modern city but there is very little to do in it.
