Chapter 1

It all started on the 8th June at Heathrow Airport. I had a 'Blonde Moment' (so you can guess who that was)! and left my trusty swiss army penknife in my hand luggage! Doh! Luckily Virgin Airlines were happy for me to buy an empty gift box, wrap the knife in tissue and then return back to check-in and put it in as luggage. And then the blonde moment continued with me forgetting to pick up the box up off the carousel at the other end! Double Doh! We ended up collecting it when we left Miami for Quito some 3 days later. Martin was and is not going to let me forget this little number I can tell you. Of all the flights I have taken round the world, dar dee dar, blar blar...................

We flew to Miami (or My Me as the Americans pronounce it) having been given a row of seats each! and stayed in the Art Deco area on South Beach. Daily temps reached 35+ degrees. We spent the next 3 days walking the sandy beach, drinking at the numerous pavement bars and cafes and par-taking in a pass time popular in My Me, of people watching.
There appears to be 2 types of people. Those who are body conscious and those who just aren't! That goes for both men and women. Steroids or not, Plastic or real....... Mmmmmm let me look again!
We had a great laugh and our best evening was spent in the Mango Cafe famous for its salsa dancing. Beautiful women dressed in leopard spot skin tight trousers/shorts and crop tops. The men had arms the size of Martin's waist were dressed in skin tight black t-shirts and trousers. They all took it in turns to serve drinks or dance salsa with each other on top of the narrow bar. Four guys got up at once and ohhh it was a sight to be seen!! The atmosphere was electric and it made our last evening in My Me one to remember.
Our next destination was Quito Ecuador.......
